Blog assignment 8

Through these final assignments I have learned so much about my topic. I learned more facts and statistics on human trafficking. It made me want to help more on the problem and do more and even research more to figure it out. Some of the benefits were finding reliable sources, by the time we write our paper we will already have reliable sources to use and won’t have to worry about it later. A disadvantage is that I forget some of the things I’ve learned as the weeks progressed and if I sat down and wrote the paper I would feel like I could remember more. This way of learning and strategically getting more information every week is an interesting and helpful way to do papers. It has an effect because it’s going to make my final paper a lot easier than getting all of the information down on one day.  I think that it will make me look at the human trafficking because I can literally see how it is affecting people in more ways every single day. One of the most valuable things I've learned through researching is that by doing it a little at a time will always make it easier in the end.

Blog Phase 7

This article I found is called "Is human trafficking really the third most profitable business for organized crime?". It was published on March 1st of 2011.  The article was written by anne Jordan and Lynne Burke. The fact that two peoples opinions in this article makes it more effective because multiple ideas and different point of views were placed into the article. The website is called "Rights work" and it said its recently been updated on February 21, 2013. The URL for the article is called rightswork.org. This means that it is a legit organization for a specific rights in the world around us.
The article talks about the world making assumptions and myths about human trafficking that misleads people into thinking something that its not. The fact that we don't know a lot about human trafficking is what is confusing and you don't know what statistics to believe because its so hard to actually know the legistics about the topic. The solution to this problem is to keep peoples opinions out of the facts and to base it off of the truth and not off of what people think is happening.
I think this article can be very helpful because it is a problem that people are getting others opinions mixed up with the truth. If everyone started to believe in something that wasn't true, they the world could be getting ineffective and non credible facts. The truth is the only things that'd going to help the situation and if that starts to get in the way of finding a solution to the problem then its going to make the solution take steps backwards.
Also, I think that this article raised a good question in all of this confusion. They could start asking, how to get the truth across instead of peoples opinions? They can try to figure that out so the solution to human trafficking and be found quicker. This article makes a lot of sense and if more people would realize the seriousness of the situation and start figuring out how to separate their opinions from facts, then we could start to make a difference in the human trafficking problem.

Blog Phase 6

The article I chose is called "Human Trafficking: The Need for Better Data". By Frank Laczko. It was published in November of 2002. The link is functional and the main title of the website is "Migration information source". The author is credible because it states that he works for the International Organization for Immigration. He also left his email in case you have any questions about the article. Laczko list's multiple sources that he got his information from and give them credit by citing them.
This article focused on how scarce amount of information and facts we have about Human Trafficking. Because the problem is so sketchy and under the radar, that people dont know enough about it to really narrow down the exact amount of people being affected, where ts taking place the most or even what people group or different groups of people are starting and doing it. The fact that so many women and children and even some men are greatly being affected by all of this is scary and he is trying to get more people to be aware of Human Trafficking.
In my experience, I didn't know that much about human trafficking until a few years ago where they made a movie about it. "Taken" was the movie title and if it wasn't for that movie I probably wouldn't have found out how important the topic actually was. That just show's how much more people need to be aware of the problem .
Also, the article talked about not having enough information about human trafficking because it is so shady and sketchy. I think that they should figure out why they're not getting enough information on it and investigate that. They can figure out murders and other crimes but for some reason they can keep this crime under that wraps more than others. Maybe its because they're mostly in other countries but its also going on in this country.

Blog Phase 5

1. Write about the credibility of your source. Follow the same three steps used in phase
three to complete your credibility evaluation.
2. Write a response to the article selected using what we have learned in class about
responding to sources.
The article I found was called "State Department report ranks countries on human trafficking". By Jill Dougherty, CNN Foreign Affairs on June 27, 2011.
It is a credible course because it tells the date and place and the authors name.
This article talks about how the trafficking is continually growing throughout the years. It is saying the 27 million people are trafficked throughout the year and 100,000 of them are even in the United States. The States are still trying to find solutions to Trafficking and they have been working on it for decades.
This source is very helpful in ways such as explaining and laying out whats happening with sex trafficking in the United States. Also, it shows statistic to really prove that trafficking is really happening.

Blog phase 4

This article i found is called "European police arrest 103 in suspected human trafficking ring" By Ed Payne or CNN on January 31,2013.
This article is credible because of the author and it states where and when this took place. Also, this helps me be aware of the crimes that are going on around the world. It states that in 10 different countries they have caught people and arrested them for human trafficking. This is showing that it is getting worse and there needs to be a stop to it.It talks about the different people that were caught and how they collected over $250,000 in cash from what they were doing. These people will be paying a high price for what they;re doing.

#3

The article I found is called "A Slow War on Human Trafficking", By Julia Mead. This was in the New York Times.
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/05/28/nyregion/nyregionspecial2/28litraf.html?ref=humantrafficking

The article, "Inspiring Action" By Chelsea Banister. This article is from Human Trafficking of North Carolina.
The fact that the article has a author and title and a place where it is found makes this a credible source.

These sources really helped me to see that its almost like being bullied and were just bistandards letting it all happen. It helped to show me that there are horrible things going on out there and even in our own country. We have the ability to help control and stop all thats going on.

Blog Phase 2

My topic is going to be focused on Human trafficking. I feel as if the world and people around me need to be more informed about this topic. I know that Human trafficking is when people are getting sold for either sexual slavery or for labor, some even to sell parts of their body. This goes on in different countries around the world and people are really trying to stop it. I hope to learn more about some of the organizations that are trying to prevent this from happening. Also, on how people are trying to stop it themselves. My ideal audience is to anyone who has a heart for the people that are being affected by this problem.
